- High-speed photography is the science of taking pictures of very fast phenomena. In 1948, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) defined high-speed photography as any set of photographs captured by a camera capable of 128 frames per second or greater, and of at least three consecutive frames.

High Speed Photography is very unique. I think every picture using this photography technique is impressive. Photographers are able to capture fast-moving objects at (quicker than) split-second moments in time and they still turn out perfectly clear and very detailed. I am fascinated by each new high speed photograph I see and sometimes they help explain things, like how a gun fires or what disrupted water looks like.
